Here a few images from the MIAA High School Girls Varsity Gymnastics – Dec 19 2011 – Shrewsbury HS and Medfield/Ashland/Dover-Sherborn at Acton-Boxoboro meet at Stearns Gymnasium, Acton, Massachusetts. It was an interesting meet to cover, considering I had just covered the 10.0 Candy Cane Classic in Boxboro over the weekend taking around 25,000 shots. So I was in a groove for gymnastics and will be the rest of the year as I will be covering a lot of youth meets for USA Gymnastics photographer John Cheng and Team Photo. Here a few images from the MIAA High School Girls Varsity Volleyball – Sep 12 2011 – Medway at Ashland game at Ashland HS, Ashland, Massachusetts. It was a great match up between the two teams to start. Ashland came out with the first set and Medway pushed back on the second tieing the score 1-1. Medway in the end was just to much and won the next 2 sets to win the match 3 – 1. All games were hard fought and were almost pushed to the limit on each game. It was the return for the open wheel series after a 13 year absence. The rain was off and on all day, and with it the cars had a lot of grip troubles throughout the race. There were a few major accidents that I unfortunately were in the wrong places for. In the end they stopped the race a few laps before completion due to a restart accident that marred the finish. It was a great time and would love to cover some open wheel racing again as when I was younger it was one of my favorite things to watch on tv!!

9 & 10 year old East Region Invitational

Here a few images from the 9 & 10 year old East Region Invitational at John Chaffee Baseball Complex, Cranston, Rhode Island. I was scheduled for one day of the week long competition for the company I was photographing for. I was primarily there to help out with the Team and Individual session that was scheduled for a short period in between games. Either way it was a great day overall. Hope you enjoy!

9 & 10 year old East Region Invitational

One thing I played with during the day was a new lens to me a Tokina AT-X PRO 17mm lens. I picked up with the thought of using it for remote work, behind the net, behind the backboard, etc. In the end I think I may be using this more and more after the performance of the lens on this day. Take a look I feel you may agree!

Here is a sample of the individual set up shot we took. It is a simple bat on shoulder, makes it real easy to bring the best out of the player and see the big smiles they have, especially for the biggest event in their young lives!!

A few more shots with the Tokina 17mm during the Opening Ceremonies. Was a great ceremony. Really keyed on the umpires during the ceremony as they are all volunteers for the week. Let alone I was a support shooter grabbing the candid shots and behind the scenes stuff.

Here a few images from the 2011 Battle for the Banner tournament at the Dighton Youth Baseball Fields, Dighton, Massachusetts. It was a great but very hot weekend of baseball. Loved the access I was allowed. We could basically go anywhere we wanted, save for sitting anywhere between the lines. Still gave a lot of great access and I really pushed myself in this weekend to not only create some of my best work, but also go a little out of my mold and shoot much tighter than I normally do. It was a great weekend over all and got to do it again the following weekend with the 9-10 Little League Eastern Region Championships. Hopefully you enjoy these images!! Here a few images from the Jul 17th Lenox Industrial Tools 301 at New Hampshire Motor Speedway, Loudon, New Hampshire. Please visit Southcreek Global Media for more photos and licensing options. Was a very long day at New Hampshire Motor Speedway getting to the track around 7 am. Had a photo meeting at 9am and headed out to the garages to grab some early shots. Nothing was really interesting till later in the day. I did what I could to grab ambiance shots throughout the day. Headed to the outside of the track for the start of the race, was my first time there, and I tried to make the best images. In the end I had 2 images make SI.com’s racing section. Over all was a fun day at the track, just wish I was in the right spots for a few accidents!!
