Photos of the Week for June 28th to July 4th

Once again I was back at Lime Rock Park for another weekend of racing. This time around the NASCAR K&N Pro Series East series and the Whelen Modifieds were in town. The K&N Series is a staple of Lime Rock whereas the Whelen Modifieds where running the 1.5 mile road course for the first time. We got there early afternoon on Friday during practice and ended up covering the qualifying heats. Not much action there, so I worked at getting some stock shots of individual cars. Worked out well as I also worked on my panning technique. Really hoping by the end of the year I can get to the sub 1/100th level comfortably. A few times I shot at 1/100th but it was a little blurry for my taste. Felt around 1/160th was going to work best for me and it did.

As you can see this is probably my best image around 1/100th, later on the light got pretty nice as well and I made this shot in the same location. Love it when the sun drops low enough to cast some nice shadows.

This was pretty much what I was making for images on the day of qualifying, the next day the action would come to me!!

Szegedy led the Modified race for most of the day then lost it with 3 laps to go from Dale Quarterley who went on to win the race.

The modified race was more eventful for me than the K&N series, but I still made a few decent images. I really with the races started a little later in the day as the sun is a little harsh around noon time to 3 pm. If the races could start around 5pm and lead into around 8pm it would be great, or early in the morning but I know that probably wouldn’t work either. Unfortunately I am guessing there is a noise curfew of 6pm as Lime Rock is required to stop at that time. Anyways onto the K&N Series photos.

It’s beginning to slow a little bit, but I am still finding things to shoot, will have a good set of images from the weekend while I travel up to Toronto to cover the Red Sox and Jays series. Hoping to make some good images while up there covering my first MLB games!! Also hoping to have a few good stories for you as well!!
