A pretty uneventful week became a pretty eventful weekend! First off this weekend was our annual Camping trip up to the White Mountains in New Hampshire. We normally go Columbus Day weekend but felt since the last few years we seemed to hit past peak foliage we felt the best time would be the weekend before! Well we were right, granted we dealt with a lot of different weather from blue skies to dark clouds, rain and snow, bright sun and foggy mornings! The long weekend started off great but our best day was Friday, we started the day off by hiking Mt. Pierce, which in the morning was shrouded by clouds and we were unsure what we were getting into, anyways we hiked round trip (6.4 miles) mostly on the Crawford Path to the peak and was surrounded by snow! Well on the way down the sun started to peek out and by the time we got down we were getting dripped on by the melting snow.
Once done there we ended up heading over to the Mt Washington Hotel lookout as I wanted to see the view, well what a VIEW!

Granted at this size you really can’t see the detail but you can view higher res images at www.gcbphotos.com, they will be for sale shortly as well as many many more images! Considering in the morning there was no blue sky I was very happy with how this turned out! It was a fitting close to the great hike we had just finished.
As I said we were camping, we camped at our favorite camp and site, Crawford Notch Campground & General Store site 54, right on the Saco River, overlooking Mt. Crawford. Here is a shot from the first night we were there, the only night we saw the moon.

Yes there is a campfire, a tent, the river and the moon in the shot, I wanted to show how close we were to the river as well as the wonderful view we normally have when camping!
Here is a shot of the Crawford Path while hiking to the peak of Mt. Pierce.

It shows pretty much what we were dealing with from about halfway up the mountain. A little bit of snow, ice, and fallen leaves!

This shot was taken at Rocky Gorge, after our little trip to Mount Washington Hotel area. It is from one of the rock ledges overlooking the river going south.

I love waterfall images and with the overcast skies it leads to some pretty good ones at that! With the cloudy skies I can get a nice slow shutter speed which allows for the movement to show. This was taken at Jackson Falls, a new location for me as we were driving around on Saturday, which was the worst of the weekend as it was raining periodically. We were on the look out for the Pumpkin People, where the local stores create scenes made out of Pumpkin People, last year there were The Beatles on Abby Road, and this year after passing Jackson Falls we came across the Addams Family!
It was a great little vacation, very relaxing and refreshing. Am ready to get back to the grind and shoot some more sports!! Next week should contain some High School sports action as I am jam packed this week with various sports!
