For this photo of the week I decided to use one where I was limited in what I could use to create the image. Normally I go out to a shoot with my full gear, 2 camera bodies a variety of lenses and what not. Well this time around I went in with one camera and one lens known as the “Nifty 50″ otherwise known as the Nikon 50mm f/1.8. That is all I went with, no tripod or any other accessory. I wanted natural light and an extremely portable kit. Now with it I was limited in focal length, but I was also given a large aperture lens which allows a lot of light in it. Enough of the technical talk and on to the image. This was taken while having a little fun at our “small” local fair known as the Woodstock Fair

This is part of the Sand Sculpture that has been created during each Woodstock Fair for the last few years. Thats right during the fair. It is a work in progress until later in the Fair. Now I could have bumped up the ISO on this image, and with the D700 I would have been comfortable in bumping it up as high as I needed to, but I wanted to stay low as once again I was testing myself to see what I could come up with when limited in what I could work with. I have posted a few more images after the break to show what I came up with.

This was taken just around sunset. This years midway set up had the ferris wheel in a new location that really hindered a real good look of a sunset and the wheel. Normally it is pretty much at a 90 degree angle from where it is right now. Therefor giving a nice silhouette of the ferris wheel. The one thing I really liked about this image was that you could see the Ferris Wheel light without hindering the colors of the sky which might have been taken away if the ferris wheel was in the other orientation.

Here I was just showing a reason for the fair, the Food, now this is just a random shot of a vendor, no real meaning behind them. I really wanted to just show a lighting of a booth.

In this shot I have an old Fire Engine hood which is reflecting the Ferris Wheel. I wanted to capture the colors of the fair in which I feel I did with this shot. Also this shot shows how the aperture affects the image. You should be able to see that there is only a small sliver of the image in focus.
All in all I had a lot of fun, upcoming this week are a wide variety of HS sports as it is the beginning of High School and I have a full schedule of covering games. Please visit my Facebook Group Page as it has my schedule of events for the week.
